Clairalience (clear-smelling) and Clairgustance (clear-tasting) Part I
Clairalience and Clairgustance are the least known or used of the six Clairs. Even though these are the under-appreciated Clairs: they are still useful in bringing out a feeling that you don't get without them.
I frequently talk about these together because they are so closely linked. When I was working at Costco doing food demonstrations, I was fascinated by how many people smell their food before they taste it. Have you ever had a cold and noticed everything tastes flat and bland? That's because smelling is such a huge part of tasting. Conversely, have you ever thought of an image of Thanksgiving Dinner and could just smell the turkey and all the sides? Grandma's apple pie? Your partner's clothes? These images bring a feeling of warmth, comfort, and love.
I will be focusing on Clairalience here in Part 1. Then, I will focus on Clairgustance and include some tips and tricks to enhance these two skills in Part II. Clairalience is the intuitive or paranormal ability to obtain specific intuitive information based on the scent of smell. Common smells include smoke, perfumes, spices, floral, musty, and earthy scents (such as pine, leaves, and dirt).
Clairalience is a common experience in my personal life. I find this ironic because my physical sense of smell is muted. In readings, the most common smell for me is smoke. There are many different types of smoke. BBQ smoke smells a lot different than cigarette or cigar smoke. Burning sage smells different than a forest fire. This is also the case with Clairalience. Other smells also come in to validate what information I am already getting about the person. In one reading, the lady I was talking to was a chef so I got all kinds of savory and sweet smells, mostly in the form of spices. I also get perfume and floral scents. When I get these smells, oftentimes, it's to validate who they were in this life or what they did for a living.
My grandma was a fabulous baker and was especially known for her apple pies. When she wants me to know that she’s around, she sends me a heavy smell of cinnamon or apple pie. It becomes especially strong when I am feeling down, defeated, or stressed out. It's her way of letting me know that she's around, loves me, and gives me the feeling that “this too shall pass” or “don’t take myself so seriously.”
For me, Clairalience helps enrich the reading experience. The sense of smell creates a richer and more vivid experience than the other four Clairs (Clairvoyance, Clairaudience, Claircognizance, and Clairsentience.) Typically, when these experiences come up, it's someone who really loves and adores the person they are communicating with. Also, these tend to be from people who transitioned either in a quiet, loving way or who transitioned many years ago. Just like the other Clairs, it takes time and practice for us to develop our skills; those on the other side have to practice communicating with us too. We are speaking in a language of energy, pictures, feelings, scents, and tastes. What's so great about these experiences is that it brings about the feeling of what it's like on the other side. It feels lighter, more loving, and more accepting than what it's like here on Earth.
The least used and developed skill of the Claris is Clairgustance or clear tasting. To find out more, look for Part II next Friday along with tips and tricks on how to activate them.
While anyone can practice the Clairs by themselves, sometimes it helps to practice with others like us. I will be running a Clairs Class at AIMS on Wednesdays from 5:30 to 7:00 on the Loveland Campus from January 24th - February 28th and on the Greeley Campus from April 3rd - May 8th, 2023.
I would love it if you would share your comments and experiences with the group - things that have worked for you, being supportive of others who are brave enough to share their personal experiences, and cheering each other on.
Until next time…
